Accenture Enhances Digital Transformation for Italy's Public Sector with Strategic Acquisition

Milan, Italy; April 2, 2024 – In a significant move to bolster the digital transformation capabilities of Italy's public sector, Accenture (NYSE: ACN) has announced its agreement to acquire Intellera Consulting. This Italian consultancy firm is known for its pivotal role in the public administration and healthcare sectors, marking a milestone in Accenture's commitment to enhancing citizen services in Italy.

Strategic Expansion in Public Services

Founded in 2021, Intellera Consulting has established itself as one of Italy's premier professional services providers. With its main offices in Rome and Milan, the firm is at the forefront of innovating public administration through digital, strategic, and organizational transformation. Leveraging data and artificial intelligence, Intellera has been instrumental in modernizing Italy's public service organizations, making them more sustainable, agile, and inclusive.

The acquisition is backed by Gyrus Capital and sees Intellera's multi-disciplinary team of over 1,400 employees join Accenture. This team has been key in facilitating the use of EU funds across the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP), driving forward the transformation of Italy's public sector.

A Synergy of Innovation and Transformation

"Intellera Consulting is widely recognized for its exceptional strategic, advisory, and technology services for public administration, making it an excellent fit with Accenture," said Mauro Macchi, chairman and chief executive officer of Accenture Italia. This acquisition aligns with Accenture's ongoing focus on serving modern, responsible, and citizen-oriented governments by integrating new talent and skills from Intellera to expand their capabilities in delivering innovation and transformation.

Andrea Gabardo, chief executive officer of Intellera Consulting, expressed enthusiasm about joining the Accenture network. "This union generates incredible synergies in creating value for our clients and multiplying growth opportunities for our people," Gabardo said. The move is seen as a significant boost to Intellera's mission to support the crucial transformation journey undertaken by Italy's public administration, healthcare, and public services.

Accenture's Continued Investment in Italy

The acquisition of Intellera Consulting is part of Accenture’s strategic growth plan and focused investments in Italy. It follows the acquisitions of Customer Management IT and SirfinPA three months prior, underscoring Accenture's commitment to enhancing the digital infrastructure of Italy's public sector.

The transaction, which is subject to customary closing conditions, represents a landmark moment for both companies. It highlights Accenture's dedication to bringing about digital revolution in the public sector, ensuring that Italian public service organizations are well-equipped to meet the challenges of the 21st century.

With this strategic move, Accenture not only strengthens its position in Italy but also reaffirms its role as a global leader in digital transformation solutions for the public sector. The future looks promising for Italy's public services, with significant improvements in efficiency, agility, and inclusivity on the horizon.
